Wednesdays with West: My Very Own Blog

This one is for Lightning McQueen.

Hello world. My name is Weston and my dadda made me my very own blog. I love froggies so, so much. I have a froggy- he's a firebelly. He's the best froggy in the whole white world and the whole white space. That's why I wanted to have a froggy blog.

http://westonfrogblog.blogspot.com/

[Dad's Note: Weston has been asking for a while now for me to create his very own blog, so head on over and check it out! I'm not sure how often he'll post, but he's pretty excited about it. He got a little digital camera for Christmas and has been taking pictures to put on his blog, so stay tuned for those and many enlightening musings from our resident mechanic and frog aficionado.

Oh, and for you Wednesdays with West fans that feature will remain here. And Bridger will be a regular guest author over at the frog blog too.]

Wednesdays with West: I Want a Harmonica

This one is for Angel.

I really want a harmonica because it makes pretty music. I told Mumma I really really want a harmonica and she said let's go to the dollar store and find one. So we goed to the dollar store so we goed to Toys-R-Us, then Macys and we asked everybody but they said "we don't have one."

Then we goed to Wa-Mert but there was no harmonicas there- only ukuleles. If I had a harmonica I would play pretty music like "Jingle Bells." Maybe tomorrow we can go to a guitar place that's full of instruments. Maybe they will have a harmonica for me.

Wednesdays with West on Thursday: A Letter to my Froggy

This is a letter to my froggy.

Dear Froggy,

I'm sorry I was gone so long at San Diego and Texas. I missed you when we was at San Diego and Texas and I'm glad you had enough crickets when I was gone. I found a dead froggy at Texas. He died by a car and I was very sad. But I said a prayer and he got to Jesus and do you know what Jesus did? He made his spirit back alive and gave him the best water ever.

What do you want for Christmas, little froggy? I know, how 'bout a little toy wind-up froggy that sticks his tongue out and catches flies for you? You are cute, froggy. You are the best froggy ever and I love you.

Wednesdays with West: The Poor Smashed Froggy

This is for Super Jumper the frog. He's with Jesus now.

I am so sad because I found a froggy that got smashed by a car. He was so bloody and he had little white stripes on him. I knew it was a froggy because he had the same toes as my froggy at home. I was crying because I was so sad about that froggy and I was wondering if he saw the car coming. I wanted dadda to take a picture of me by some taddle leaves cause that's where froggies live. Me and Bridger named that froggy Super Jumper.

I said a special prayer to Jesus about that froggy and said please make that froggy go to Jesus and be happy. When we came home to our hotel I looked for that smashed froggy and he was gone because Jesus came and took him away. He will be happy there.

[Dad's Note: "Taddle Leaves" are what Weston calls lily pads. The boy loves frogs more than life itself and he was devastated when he found the smashed froggy this morning. He's doing better tonight, but it has weighed on his mind pretty heavily all day.]

Wednesdays with West: My Headache

This one is for a t-rex. Not a fake t-rex, a real t-rex.

My head hurts really bad. It feels like someone's walking on me. I think some good sleep would help me. I thinkI'll go say a prayer to make it feel better.

Wednesdays with West: Our TV is Haunted

This one is for Angel.

Do you know what? Our TV is haunted. It does spooky things by itself. It's the one downstairs. I think there is a ghost in our TV. A ghost is a thing that's invisible and you can't see it and it's spooky but not bad. Every single time you push a button on the 'mote control, something happens on the TV. Maybe this is happening cause it's Halloween time.

Wednesdays with West: My New Book

This one is for the Transformers. My fabrit is Optimus Prime.

Do you know what? I have a new book that I love so much. Bridger ordered it for me. It's about this li'l old lady that isn't afraid of anything. She sees pants that walk all by they selves and shoes, but she's not scared. I really love this book.

Wednesdays with West: I Know How To Drive a Car

This one is for Bridger because he's being really fussy tonight.

Dadda teached me how to drive a car. Now I can drive a car! First you start it up. Then you back it out into the road. Then you need to put it in a gear. I like dadda's car cause it has a stick that you use to shift the gears. Mumma's car doesn't have that stick.

First you put it in first gear. That's over and up. Second is straight down. Third is over and up. When you want to stop, you put it in neutral. That's right in the middle and you can stop. Dadda teached me all that and now I can drive a car. Do you know what else I can do? I can clap so hard it almost breaks my hands!

[Dad's Note: For those of you new to Bridger's blog, Wednesdays with West is tradition that began last year when Bridger was in kindergarten. Usually a late-nighter, the school schedule really threw Bridger for a loop. By about Wednesday every week, he'd have a meltdown and crash, and Weston had to step up and fill in. Today was a usual Wednesday for Bridger, as pointed out by Weston's dedication.]

Wednesdays with West: What Have They Done To Herbie??

This one is for Herbie. He's kind of a chubby car that can drive by himself and and both his trunks can open by itself.

When the kids was giving me a ride in their wagon I found Herbie. He must have drived himself all the way from Florida. He can do stuff like that.

Now he's broken and black because some bad guys did that to him. That makes me sad but I don't think Herbie is sad because I looked in his eyes and they are turned up. That means he's not sad. I love Herbie.

Wednesdays with West: The Coolest Shorts I Ever Seen

This one is for my froggy. I love him so much and I think he's going to have baby tadpoles soon.

I have the coolest shorts that Mumma got for me. They are basketball shorts. The can never be inside out! No matter how you take them off they are not inside out! That's the coolest shorts I ever seen.

Wednesdays with West on Thursday: Pokies

[Dad's Note: Ok, so our timing's been a little off this summer. With school starting back up, our days should be a bit more structured, and Wednesdays with West will appear on Wednesdays again.]

Do you know what's weird? Dadda is getting older because he's starting to get pokies on his face just like Bompa has pokies on his face. Those pokies is hard and sharp. I want to stay a little kid because I never want to get those pokies on my face.

[I guess the shaving every other day thing isn't working any more. I was sort of a late bloomer and didn't need to shave until well into my twenties. Since then I've only really needed to shave every other day. I guess those pokies have finally caught up to me.]

Wednesdays with West on Friday: Tadpoles

This one is for the little tadpoles in Moab.

I love those tadpoles in Moab. They live in this little river and I love them so much. I wish I could go back to Moab because maybe they would be froggies when we get back. Tadpoles is baby froggies that look like fish, but they're not fish. One's name is Tad and another's name is Polie.

[Dad's Note: Weston's tadpoles live under the Wolfe Ranch bridge in Salt Wash, along the trail to Delicate Arch.]

Watching tadpoles through a crack in the bridge.

Bridger's Sad, West Fills In

This one is for the real Lightning McQueen.

Bridger is sad tonight so I am writing his blog tonight. He is sad because he can't find his thing. He doesn't know what his thing is but he says he got it when I got my two Lightning McQueen cars from McDonalds. I love Bridger and I want to help him. When Bridger is sad it makes me want to help him, but I can't help him cause I don't know what he's looking for. He doesn't even know what he's looking for. Maybe he's just really tired.

Wednesdays with West: The Real Sara Heavens

This one is for Sara Heavens.

Do you know what? I saw the real Sara Heavens at church! She's a girl and she has a pretty dress and she has hair that is very pretty. She dances and sings. I love her because she sings my special song that makes me feel good at school. I saw her in front of our place at church.

[Dad's Note: Weston actually saw our neighbor, Nicky, who does look a heck of a lot like Sara "Heavens." Weston's special song is "Never Alone," which is almost as dear to him as "You Are My Sunshine." Weston suffers from periodic night terrors, a parasomnia sleep disorder characterized by extreme terror and a temporary inability to regain full consciousness. After 4 years of these terrors, the only thing we've found that can pull him out of them is Sara's "Never Alone." So we'll just go ahead and let West think Sara Heavens goes to his church. Nicky better just learn how to sing!]

Wednesdays with West: Gutter Sailing

Dadda helped me make a cool boat out of sticks. It has grass wrapped around it so it can float. It even has a motor in it and a stick for the sail. I put it in the gutter so it could float down the gutter. It's a really cool boat. (Mumma's note: Perhaps they should've changed out of their church clothes first.)

Wednesdays with West: Every Car Needs a Good Radiator

I think our cars is the best cars in the world. They have good motors and radiators. But the motor home doesn't have a good radiator in it because it is way old. You need a good radiator because that's what makes it so the motor doesn't get too hot. If it gets too hot you have to stop and put water on it.

Wednesdays with West: Froggy Days

This one is for those big strange frogs that swim in the tank.

We went to Froggy Days yesaday and it's in a muzesum. I don't know where that muzesum is. They have lots and lots of froggies there and I love it so much. They have blue dart froggies and tree froggies and tons of froggies. My favorite froggy is all of them. My favorite froggy at my house is my fibelly frog. I love him. He eats crickets.

Here's a picture that dadda took of those strange big froggies.

Wednesdays with West: Thoughts on Pioneers

This one is for the pioneers.

Me and Bridger goed to this pioneer museum today. Pioneers is people that didn't have cars so they rode in wagons and they rode a long, long way in the mountains. They had houses that was made out of logs that wasn't very good houses.

I was in a group with Kara and my group leader was the guy from Wal-Mart. We pretended we was real pioneers and there was pictures of stars and Jesus there. Grace was even there.

This one is for Peyton. I will miss Peyton.

[Dad's Note: Today's launch was rescheduled due to weather. We're told it may be tomorrow or Friday. We'll keep you informed.]

This one is for Herbie.

I is watchin' this show about Herbie. He's a car that's alive. He's a crazy car and he can open his doors by his self. There is a cool car that's green that has lots of fire on it. Oh, it just showed it again. Now Herbie's bein' crazy. Herbie is in a race and he just winned that race cause he got more gas than the other guy.

I saw the real Herbie at Dizzy World. I took my picture by him at Florida. I love Herbie.

Wednesdays with West: Frogs, Spider Hats, and Flying Cars

This one is for my froggy.

We watched Meet the Robinsons right now and it is cool because it has cars and froggies in it. My favorite part of the show is the car part. There is a machine car that flies. There is a little kid named Lucas and he made a machine. Then a bad spider hat broke that machine. That spider hat's eyes turned red when he got naughty.

My other favorite is the froggy part where the froggies was singing. I have a froggy and I love him so much. He was to the pet store for a long time and we got him back. Now he lives at our house. He's a fireberry frog.

Granny from Tescas and Kelsi is at Wa-Mert right now. They are there for a long time. Maybe they are buying food. I think they are buying cake.

[Family Zoo Curator's Note: Weston's frog is a firebelly toad.]

Wednesdays with West: Earwigs and Mumma's Song

This one is for Peyton. He is my friend at skoo.

I have a feba today and I got a ear ache. That is from the earwigs when they get into my ears and pinch in there. There is a song that we listen to and mumma make that song on the radio. It sound like her. I love that song.

[Dad's Note: West is a man of few words, but we definately welcome him back to the blog after a couple weeks off. 'Skoo' = school and 'feba' = Fever. I think Bridger may have had something to do with Weston's understanding of the cause of ear aches.

The song West refers to is "Home To You" from the
album of the same name by the Peasall Sisters. The lead singer does kind of sound like mumma.]

Wednesdays with West: Auto Anatomy

This one is for Whitty.

We went to a place with lots of cars today and we got in those cars. My favorite one was the red one and Bridger like the blue one. I love our car. It is warm inside and it is cool. Cars work cause of they engine. Not they steering wheel or they numbers. They engine has pixons in it- like the Pixon Cup in Cars. That's what makes a car work. The steering wheel makes the car turn and the numbers make it fast. Cars is the coolest things in the whole white world!

[Dad's Note: Weston's "theirs" sound like "theys." The way he dictated this post, I had to write it like it sounded. Those of you familiar with his voice would probably agree that it's much more "West" written this way.]

Wednesdays with West: Lightning McQueen Cartridge At Last!

I'm just hanging out with Momma tonight. That means I'm staying up all night.

Do you know what Santa brought me? My Lightning McQueen cardridge!! It is really cool. There is games on it where you get a lot of tokens and if you get a lot of tokens you can go to Radiator Springs. That's a town. You race in this game. You push all of the buttons- but not the turn-off one, cause that will turn off the 'puter. Sometimes you need to turn off your 'puter so it can rest.

[Dad's Note: Check out the picture below- the Wednesday night brick wall- when the school schedule catches up with Bridger for the week. Since Weston was having to fill in for him so much on Wednesdays, we decided to make it a regular feature.]

Wednesdays with West: Racing Basics

This one is for Bridger.

Tyler says that Dinoco is a comp'ny, but Dinoco is a car, not a comp'ny. He's a race car that's very fast. A comp'ny is a place that gives money to race cars so they can race. If you want to be a good racer, first you have to get yourself a good pit crew. A pit crew changes your tires and puts gas in your car so you can race.

Tech Talk with Weston

[Weston had some thoughts he wanted to share tonight. Bridger was gracious enough to let him take the helm and share his tech wisdom.]

This one is for Coulter baby because he's still sick.

I have a suitcase that you put CD's and DVD's in. Do you know the difference of CD's and DVD's? You watch DVD's and you listen to CD's on the radio. But you can watch DVD's on the 'puter too. Do you know what a cartridge is? You play games on a cartridge on your game 'puter. You can't put a cartridge in dadda's 'puter.

My favorite cartridge is Lightning McQueen. I don't have that yet because it's a lot many moneys. I need to do lots of work so I can get moneys. Then I can go to Wal-Mart and buy that cartridge.

Bridger has a dinosaur game where you try to find dinosaur bones. I'm a Lightning McQueen boy but I like dinosaurs. I like Ripper the 'pinosaurus. I really really want that Lightning McQueen cartridge. When I buy it I will put it in my 'puter and turn it on and see what games are on there. Then I will sit in my green chair and drink Coke and play that cartridge.
