Corduroy Bear's Texas Adventure

This one is for Corduroid. He is a great bear and I love him. I'm so lucky I got a turn to take him.

Corduroid is a cute bear that my teacher got from the Build-a-Bear Workshop many years ago when she was a little girl. He is 164 special to her. Every week somebody gets to take him home and then you write about your adventures with him. I got him just when it was time to go to Tescas, so I took him with me!

I was so tired on the plane but I didn't want to lean on him because he's alive and that would hurt him. We flew to Tescas and I took him to Granny in Tescas's work, then to Grammy Darla's. We took a picture of him on the hay because there's a whole lot of hay in Tescas.

Then we took him to a cool dinosaur museum where they have dinosaurs that move and roar just like real dinos. My favorite was all of them but if I have to say my favorite then it would be the big dilophosaurus that spit water.

I took Corduroid with me for 6 whole days. Then we got back on the plane and flew home. That was my adventure with Corduroid the wonderful bear.

[Dad's Note: Not sure where he got the "roid" from, but it's cute.]

A School of Jacks

This one is for Weston. He's the best brother in the whole world. We like to do fun things together after school.

This is a cool video of some jack fish. I was looking at some old, old pictures Dadda drew when he was a little boy. He had a whale and a starfish, a crab, a dolphin. He even drew some fish that I really like called jack fish. Those are small fish that swim together in really big schools. It's tough to be a jack because they don't have a problem finding their prey- they just have trouble catching it. I used to think there was 164 jacks in a school, but now I know there are probably thousands.

Helping Hilly Give Blood

This one is for Hilly.

I watched Hilly give blood today. It was 164 cool! I wanted dadda to video it but he only had is reg'lar camera.

First they put her on the seat then they got a bag and put her blood into it. But first they painted her arm to kill all the germs, then they poked the needle in there. There is a blood pusher on that needle like Dus-E-Boy has. Then the blood sucks through the tube into the bag. The blood is dark red- even darker than Lightning McQueen red. It's a little long til the bag gets full. There is a guy who keeps flipping the bag of blood. I took care of Hilly since she lost a lot of blood. I went with her to the treats. She got juice and I got water because I love water.

I wouldn't want to give blood. I think it was hurting Hilly but grown-ups are tough. They don't cry like kids do. I don't think I would cry but I would definately say 'ouch' and I would definately hate it. But sometimes you just have to give blood because sometimes people need it.

When you give somebody your blood, it has to be the same kind of blood as theirs or it won't work. When I was pouring blood out of my mouth I almost had to get blood from somebody. Dadda could give me blood because we are on the same blood team. I am thankful for blood because it helps you live.

[Dad's Note: For those of you new to Bridger's blog, he had a really close call last summer. Ever since, he's been somewhat obsessed with giving blood. See this and this.]

A Very Nice Spider with 164 Eyes

This one is for Stitch.

Do you know what I just found out? Charlotte has more eyes than just two. She has 164 of them. There are two Charlotte's Web shows that I like. One is a cartoon one and the other one is real. That means it has real people in it. I love Charlotte's Web. I don't know why. I just love it.

A Trip to a Mysterious Old House

This one is for Princess Lydia.

We went with Tyler to an old house that he built. It was 164 years old and very mysterious. I didn't find any clues to dinosaur treasure in there but I did find a dinosaur toy in there. There was all these paths in there but one path was blocked. We walked on this thing high in the sky that looked like a slurper and dadda said "Bridger, you're freaking me out" and I said "Dad, you're a scaredy cat." He thought I would fall down but I made it across without falling.

[Dad's Note: The mysterious old house is actually the Empress Theater in Magna, Utah, which opened in 1916 (so not quite 164 years ago). Bridger's uncle Tyler has been helping to restore the theater. It re-opened this fall for the first time in 50 years. I have no idea what a "slurper" is.]

Monday Mailbag: Dino Books, Chapstick, and Diplodocus

Steph said...
Bridger,
You continue to amaze me with all the dinosaurs you know about. I don't know anyone who is as intrigued with dinosaurs as you are. I'm glad you have a blog to share all this information on. Keep learning!
BRIDGER RESPONDS: I'm glad you read my blog. Did you know I have lots of books about dinosaurs? You even gave me one. Grace gave me one too. I have so many books that I can't even count them all right now. I think I have 164 of them. They have pictures and charts in them. Momma doesn't know how to read so dadda reads them to me. I read them all- even the Cat in the Hat dinosaur book. So I need more now.

Jane's Mom said...
Bridger, Jane says thank you (for dedicating his blog post to her).
BRIDGER RESPONDS: You're welcome Jane-Jane. You have lipstick that looks like candy. I have chapstick because lipstick is for girls. I have a lot of chapstick. I can't wait to play with you at school tomorrow!

Tiff said...
It may be a long, long time before your sneaker spider comes out of hibernation. Good luck with that.
BRIDGER RESPONDS: Guess what, Tiffy? That sneaker spider waked up yesterday and he's hibernating again today. I just keep him warm and cozy. You know what else, Tiff? I just watched a show called Mini Monsters that had a diplodocus in it. I call him "backfeet" because his feet look like komodo dragon feet.

O Little Town of Buffalo

This one is for Kelsey Banketer.

I'm so excited for Christmas! I love all the holly days but I really love Christmas. Christmas is about the heart that we show and the care that we show.

Jesus was born on Christmas, so Christmas is for Jesus. He was born in Buffalo 164 years ago. His momma was Mary and his dad was Heavenly Father. Grace taught me that. Now Jesus lives in the stars and he watches over us. He loves me very much.

[Dad's Note: Buffalo, huh? He probably got that from the same Bible where he read about Noah and his trailer.]

I Love Experiments

This one is for McCall. I love you, McCall.

I love experiments! Experiments are little things that can do stuff, but sometimes they do stuff that's bad. Jumba made them. He is a alien evil genius. He knows how to make anything. Experiment 626 is named Stitch. I am experiment 164. I am the dinosaur boy. I love dinosaurs so much that they love me. That is my powers.

I like Lilo. She is a little Hawaiian girl. Why wouldn't I not like her? I like her because she's pretty.

Pleakley is a goofball with one eye. Mosquitos like to bite him. Nani is boring. She be's mean on every single show. She goes surfing. That's where you get on a board and go into the ocean. Then you stand up and go fast. If you fall off the board then you sink, because people don't have air bladders like fish do.

The Dinosaur Boy Celebrates His 164th Post

[Dad's Note: Bridger's blog has reached a landmark of sorts. This is his 164th post. 164 was Bridger's first favorite number and for a while he associated it with everything. He has mentioned it often in his posts. Some examples:

7/5/06: "I am experiment 164. "
7/6/06: "That book is 164 special to me"
7/10/06: "When I am 8 I will get the priesthood power. It is 164 powerful!"
7/15/06: "I will stay awake 164 so I'll be awake when he gets home."
7/15/06: "There are 164 dinosaurs that lived."
7/31/06: "I just bought a deinonychus raptor for 25 cents! It's legs are 164 long!"
8/8/06: "Linzie broke through me and Connor and it hurt 164 bad."
8/27/06: "That place was 164 old, but not older than the dinosaurs."
10/23/06: "a pleiosaurus hunter who could fight hard and weighs 164 tons."]
I have 164 blogs! That's a lot. Right now I'm drawing a big huge haunted house with a guy that has no head and a big fat pumpkin. It's a spooky house, but not spooky to me. I'm making this for decorations for when it's Halloween again, so I'll be all set. This house has lizards in it and carnotaurs and snakes. Lizards are cool because they are reptiles like dinosaurs. Also it has experiments.

164-Ton Fighting Pleiosaurus

This one is for Ziggy.

I'm thinking of a new kind of swimming dinosaur- a pleiosaurus hunter who could fight hard and weighs 164 tons. He even has more weapons than the super duper leopard keppard shark. His weapons are sharp teeth and sharp eyesight and powerful jaws. It can camoflauge and you don't see a thing of it. A great white shark will think it's safe to swim by this pleiosaurus because he can't see it. But then it tears that great white shark to pieces.

Funny Looking Dinos, Ghost Towns, and Birthday Loot

This one is for all the swimming dinosaurs. They swim all day in the deep, deep water looking for things to eat.

Did you know there is funny-looking dinosaurs? Like centrosaurus. He only has one horn.

We goed to a ghost town yesterday! A ghost town is where ghosts live. But it wasn't spooky to me. That place was 164 old, but not older than the dinosaurs. It has broken windows everywhere. I didn't see any ghosts there, but you can't see ghosts, silly!

I got so many cool things for my birthday- a Shamu thing that you put in your bath and it swims. And a swimming light that has fishies in it. I even got a cane! And Hilli gave me the coolests book that I've never seen. And a doodle glow and even a ukulele just like my dadda's. Now I can jam with dadda and Will.

WEST'S WISDOM: I will play dadda's ukulele and you will all dance.

[Dad's Note: The ghost town was Wendover Air Base. Bridger had his extended family birthday party tonight, hence the new presents. He has always wanted a cane like his grandpa, so his aunt Tammy got one for his birthday.]

How'd They Get Those Numbers On There?

This one is for The Kids.

Do you know what car is my favorite? Dinoco, because it has a dinosaur on it! Sally is in Love with Lightening McQueen, but she's just a regular car. But they can make Sally a race car. They can just put numbers on her. Then they can get married.

The numbers on race cars are those cars' favorite number. If I was a race car they would put 100 on me. I like every single number though, even 164 and 900. I'm not sure how they put the numbers on, but I think Jesus puts the numbers on cars. He paints those numbers on there. If a fast dinosaur like struthiomimus was in a race, they would put numbers on him. But it would be a piece of paper, because it would be silly to paint a dinosaur.

Soldiers, Manatees, and Girly-Wirly Games

This one is for Ammon. His dadda is a soldier that protects America. This one is also for the manatees. A manatee is a big creature that eats salad. I think it would be cool if a manatee fighted a shark, but manatees are too nice to fight and the shark would probably rip him to shreds.

It was McCall's birthday party. There wasn't very much boys there. I gave McCall a doodle bear we bought at Wal-Mart. She loves it. That party was fun, but there were a lot of girly-wirly games. Except for the balloon one and red rover. You have to try to break out someone's arms. I ran fast like a raptor and I broke through. Linzie broke through me and Connor and it hurt 164 bad. I was going to tell you about a fun game I played today, but sorry, I already forgetted.

25 cent Raptor- Heck of a Deal!

This one is dedicated to a T-Rex. He is the most powerful dinosaur!

I just bought a deinonychus raptor for 25 cents! It is huge, but not as huge as the Homongous Rock or Easter Rock. It's legs are 164 long! This deinonychus must have lost his feathers because he doesn't have any. We know that deinonychus raptor has feathers because they discovered it. Oh I am so excited about this raptor!

Dadda always wants to talk to momma on the phone when he's at work. He says it's because momma is his friend. I told him that momma isn't his friend, she's his wife.

I want to give something to that little girl's family for her but I don't know what I will give her. Probably this guy that's blue and squishy. He kind of scares me but maybe he won't scare her. And maybe dadda can give her one of his special planes.

[Dad's Note: Paleontologists uncovered a group of deinonychus bones near Bridger, Montana in 1964. This and other more recent finds indicate that this dino was covered in feathers. Most children's books, however, portray them without feathers, much to Bridger's chagrin.

The "Homongous Rock" is actually Black Rock, a small island in the Great Salt Lake. "Easter Rock" is actually Adobe Rock, a large limestone outcropping on the west bench of the Oquirrh Mountains.]

Of Alison Krauss, Prizes, and Dinosaurs

This one is for everyone!

Do you know that today I heared Coulter singing "Ba-Ba-Ba, Ba-Barbara Ann?" That's a great song but my favorite song is the Dumbo song that Alison Krauss sings. This is a picture of Alison Krauss with her violin.

Stephy came to my house today and gave me prizes because my throat hurts. She gave me 3 cool dinosaurs and a brand new grabber. And Will and Jen and Tiff came too. Gammy gave me a dimetrodon and a spike and a styrachosaurus and cool dinosaur jacks.

I miss The Kids but I miss my dadda even more. I will stay awake 164 so I'll be awake when he gets home. I will show my special dinosaur book to dadda. The one that Coulter ripped the page out of.

There are 164 dinosaurs that lived. Did you know that there are dinosaurs the paleontologists haven't even found yet? I hope they find them soon.

[Bridger's little brother Weston takes over for Bridger, who's pain medicine seems to have just kicked in.]

I help Bridger do his blog because I love to. Because Bridger got sick and he took medicine. I don't feel really sick so I will help do his blog. I want to write about I love spinosauruses. They name is Ripper. I love Lightning McQueen because he's red. I like red. I have itchies all on me and I can't get them off me .

Tonsil Day Tomorrow

This one is for Dustin who lives in the hostipal because he has obetes.

Tomorrow they will take my tonsils out because they are too big. And they make me not sleep good. I have to wait 20 minutes to go to sleep. They will put me to sleep when they take my tonsils out but I wish they could just do it when I am awake so I can see them.

When they put me to sleep I will dream about dinosaurs. I will dream about a daspletosaurus called "Little Das" that wanders out into the jungle alone. Maybe I will dream about Jesus too. Dinosaurs and Jesus.

When I am 8 I will get the priesthood power. It is 164 powerful! I will just bless all the poor people who never got blessed. At the hostipal party they gave me a bracelet and a special hat. Shoot! I just forgetted my special hat at Gammys.

I'm thinking about Wal-Mart, about how they don't close at dark time like other stores. Why do other stores have to close? I don't know what to think about that.

UPDATE: Tiffany, my dadda read me your letter about Wal-Mart. Maybe if other stores can find good workers like Wal-Mart they won't have to close at dark time. I think those workers live at Wal-Mart.

[Dad's Note: Dustin (aka. Dus-E-Boy) only spent 3 days in the hospital, but for some reason Bridger insists he still lives there. Tonight he attended a special orientation at the hospital for kids having surgery. He's pretty excited to get his tonsils out- though we have mentioned nothing about the needles.]

Disappointed At Coulter

This one is for the dinosaurs!

I'm watching Leroy & Stitch right now. Coulter is sad because I'm very disappointed in him because he ripped a page out of my dinosaur book. Weston would never do that, so I know it was Coulter. It is my special book with dinosaurs that just crack me up. That book is 164 special to me.

Coulter is sick. He has another bad fever. I said a special prayer for him. I said "Please bless Coulter because he is so sick." I know Jesus will help him now.

But just cause he's sick doesn't mean he had to rip the page out of my special dinosaur book. I need to show that book to dadda. The dinosaurs in it are very funny and he'll laugh. I love Coulter, so I won't be disappointed at him any more.

[Dad's Note: Ok, two things are becoming very apparent- Bridger really likes Leroy & Stitch and is obsessed with the number 164. Actually he's been really interested in numbers lately and tries to associate a number with everything. It could have something to do with a developing child's natural interest in quantifying things. It could also have something to do with the numbered "experiments" in Disney's Lilo & Stitch franchise. Either way, it's pretty hilarious.]

I Am Experiment 164

This one is for Coulter.

I watched Leroy & Stitch today 4 times. It has all the experiments in it. There is one that has pokies inside him and he can spread the pokies at the bad guys. The soldiers keep America safe from bad guys. The soldiers are in America somewhere.
I will tell you what experiments are in Leroy & Stitch so that people who didn't get to see it will know. There is one that looks like a stop light. And one can stretch very long. And there is an experiment that could shave everything. Jumba makes the experiments. He just has a little tank and he pushes that down and it makes the experiment real.

I am experiment 164. I have scripture power. It keeps me safe from sin. Scripture power is the power to win. I get it from the scriptures cause they are about Jesus and all the other good guys. I sometimes wonder why Jesus didn't give the Holy Ghost a body. If the Holy Ghost had a body he would look a little like the people on earth.
