Voting: My Secret Opinion

This one is for my favorite people I voted for, but I'm not going to say who it was because it's my secret opinion.

We had this thing yesterday where we voted at school and we had to choose between John McCain and Barack Obama. My teacher said our decision should be our secret opinion. Do you know what an opinion is? It's something that you think is the best but somebody else might not. She said not to vote for somebody just because they're handsome or good looking or the color of their skin. She said we should vote for whose plans we like the best.

The Dinosaur Boy Talks Politics

This one is for Nigel Marven. I was watching him the other other night really late and he was showing how alligators protect their babies.

At the SpookTacular, the kids were watching Nightmare Before Christmas. I love that show so much. I started talking to Simmy about the elections and I asked him who he was voting for. He didn't say anything, and his dad told me he's not very interested in voting at his age. I told him I find it quite interesting.

[Dad's Note: Bridger is 7, Simmy is 6. Weston is 5, and he says he finds it "quite interesting also."]

How to Avoid Being Eaten by a Shark

This one is for Jack Skellington. He's my favorite Disney guy ever.

I was swimming in the pool at our hotel yesterday and I was teaching Weston how to get away from a shark if he ever needs to. I learned it on Discovery Channel. You don't want to kick or splash too much because that will make him want to chase you. What you do is just swim slowly away. I didn't see any sharks at the beach this week but it's good to know anyway.

Me and Weston just collected all kinds of shells at the beach. There was clams and oysters and even a dead Gary snail. I wish I could come there every single day. Dadda wishes he would have brought the surf board that he bought in San Diego. Mumma gives him a hard time about buying a surf board when he lives in Utah, but I don't have a problem with it at all.

Burping Sprite

This one is for the brachylophosaurus that they found in Montana. He's a mummy dinosaur named Leonardo.

We were at this rock museum the other night and you could pay a dollar to spin this wheel with numbers on it. Whatever number you get, you look on a big board with numbers on it and you get what prize is on that number.

I won a piece of wood that said "1 free drink" on it. That means I got to have a free Coke, but I don't like Coke so I got Sprite. But you know what's funny about Sprite? It makes me burp accidentally, and when I accidentally burp, some strange smoke blows out my nose that smells and tastes like Sprite. Weird, huh?

The Magical Golden Arches

This one is for the dinosaur mummy. I started watching a show about the secrets of the dinosaur mummy, but I had to pause it so I could do my homework.

You know what I wonder? How McDonalds cooks food so fast. Dadda took us to McDonalds on the way to the airport yesterday and I can't even believe how fast they cook our food. You tell them what you want and they have it ready so quick by the time you even drive up there.

The thing is, Mumma can't cook that fast. I just don't know how they do it. Maybe there is guys just waiting there and as soon as you tell them what you want they race to cook it. But still that's way fast. I have to think there is some kind of magic going on in there.

Connor is Rich

This one is for Tammy.

Did you know that Connor has $100? He earned it all doing stuff like feeding our pets while we're gone and stuff like that. I say that makes him rich, cause it's not often that a 12 year old boy has one hundred dollars like that.

So I think Kaden is wrong because he says a kid isn't rich until he has a thousand dollars. I don't believe anything Kaden says because I can't really trust him. So I'm thinking Connor is a rich guy. I got some money for my birthday but not $100. I got $20 and $10, but that's not even enough to buy a Game Boy. BUT, I did spend it all on a WALL*E cartridge.

Colossal Squid

[Dad's Note: In this post, Bridger liveblogs a Discovery Channel documentary called "Colossal Squid."]

This one is for the giant squid.

I been watching this show about a giant squid. Oh, a giant squid came and striked and made these bubbles that said what the show is called, then you see it's eyes. Wow, they're in Antarctica? How can a squid survive when it's so freezing? They accidentally caught a colossal squid on that boat. I guess that's bigger than a giant squid.

Ok, now they just brought in the fish that the squid was eating. Blood all over the metal floor- they're going to have to get a new metal floor. They got this Doctor guy on here and they say he's a squidoholic. I'm a dinosaurholic and a squidoholic. Did you know that Squidward on SpongeBob isn't a squid at all? He's an octopus. I don't know why he's named Squidward.

Now they froze the squid and brought into a lab so they can cut it up. That colossal squid has a tiger claw in his suction cup that turns all the way around.

Oh, touch the tentacles- great idea. You know you're going to get your fingers stuck on those tentacles.

W0w, they only live for a year and a half. Small life.

This guy's been looking for a colossal squid for 20 years? That's a long time.

Now the scientist is showing us these gill things and saying that's not blood there because a squid's blood is actually blue. Cool.

Flashbacks

This one will be a quick one because it's bed time and I have school in the morning. What a great year this will be in school!

You know, I was eating chickies yesterday and they had an after taste that was very familiar to me. It reminded me of something I ate a long time ago. I remember lots of things from a long time ago, like when I poured blood and almost died.

I started remembering more about that the other day. I remembered what happened when I first started bleeding and Mumma was talking to the lawn guy. Then I don't really remember anything until I was in the helicopter and I was really worried that they would forget to shut the door. But luckily they remembered. They were poking me and poking me and then I was in the hospital. The only thing I can't remember right is when they gave me Tonsil the bear. It's like I remember two versions of what happened. I wish I could remember that part right.

[Dad's Note: 'Chickies' are chicken nuggets, the only form of meat the boy will touch. For newcomers to Bridger's blog who may be a bit confused about this 'pouring blood' experience, you can read the original post: 'I Almost Went to Jesus'.]

The Stone of Cold Fire: Another classic film review by the Dinosaur Boy

This one is for McCall. Coulter calls her Mister Call.

Today I watched a great Land Before Time. It's one of my favorites and it's called The Stone of Cold Fire. That's the one where Petrie's uncle, Pterano, comes to the Great Valley and does all kinds of bad things.

It's easy for somebody watching it to tell that Pterano is a bad guy, but it takes Petrie way long to figure that out. That's cause Pterano is his uncle, and it's hard to believe your own uncle would be a bad guy. Even Cera and Ducky already figured out that Pterano was bad.

But Petrie hears Ducky scream and Littlefoot tells Petrie that it's Pterano but he doesn't believe it, then Petrie flies up and says, "Let Ducky go!" Pterano says, "This isn't what it looks like." But Petrie found out that Pteran was trying to kidnap Ducky. So then Petrie found out that Pterano really wanted to take over the Great Valley.

But Ducky didn't die. She fell in this cave in some really freezing water and the others rescue her.

But the thing is, Pterano wasn't a good leader, because some of the pack believed him and he led them to the Mysterious Beyond and they all died from a thousand velociraptors. These were gray and black raptors. I've seen orange and red raptors in other Land Before Time movies.

[Dad's Note: Clear as mud, huh? Check out Wikipedia's summary of this prehistori c blockbuster here.]

Sunday Thoughts From Coulter

[Dad's Note: Tonight, Bridger's little brother, Coulter, takes over blogging responsibilities to relate a poem that he made up.]

Jesus ring-a my bell,
Jesus open my door,
Jesus come in my house,
Jesus say, "Shhhh...Be kiet."

[Who says 2-year-olds don't listen to family night lessons?]

Weston's Headphones and Plankton's Computer Wife

This one is for my toy crane I got from the D.I. It's awesome, but I can't find it.

Well, I did some scientific experiments today with Weston's headphones- thank goodness Ammon reminded me! And Dad even remembered to remind me. I totally didn't think he would remember, so I worried about it all night.

When I woke up I got those headphones and tried them out in Dadda's computer first. I heard Plankton's computer wife. Then I tried it out in Dadda's phone, but don't worry, I didn't touch any buttons or call 911 like Angel did a few days ago. I didn't hear anything in Dadda's phone, so I tried Mumma's. Nothing.

Then I tried our fly boat and it didn't really fit. So really the only experiment that worked was in Dadda's 'puter.

[Dad's Note: "Plankton's computer wife" refers to the Plankton character on SpongeBob SquarePants, who's wife is a talking computer. Bridger calls the voice on my AT&T voice simulation software "Plankton's computer wife." And what do you know, Plankton's computer wife just happened to be talking when Bridger came over with the headphones.]

Thoughts on Jurassic Park

This one is for the t-rex on Jurassic Park. I watch that show every day.

Do you know one thing I love about Jurassic Park? The music. Especially the terrifying music when the raptors are chasing the kids. My favorite part of that show is every part. I was thinking about that show when we went to Chilis tonight, so I took that kids menu and drew velociraptors all over it.

Do you know how they make dinosaurs in that movie? They find amber with mosquitoes in it and they get some old dino DNA out of there. DNA is kind of a cool thing. It stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. It's hard to explain what it looks like, but it's in your body all over. It's a great show.

Oh, somebody please remind me that I'm going to do some science experiments with Weston's headphones tomorrow. I'm going to put them on and plug them into all kinds of things and see if I can hear inside stuff. I don't want to forget to do that.

Thinking About Monsters, Inc.

This one is for Tiffy. I haven't done one for Tiff in a long time. When we were camping 3 weeks ago I slept in her tent all the nights. We told stories, but not scary ones.

I been thinking about Monsters, Inc. a lot lately, probably because I been watching that movie a lot lately. So I got this idea that I would draw my own monsters that kind of look like the ones on Monsters, Inc.
