Happy Halloween!

This one is for Granny.

I wonder who invented Halloween. I bet it was Jesus, since Halloween is such a great holiday. That is the day when ghosts and goblins play. I believe in ghosts. They are just spirits of dead people. They are very good spirits like the Holy Ghost. I have a favorite Halloween song that I love so much because it has everything in it- ghosts, black cats, skeletons. Oh I love this song:

Halloween, Halloween
Lots of fun on Halloween.
Black cats and ghosts,
Skeletons too.
Clowns and witches all say boo.

Pumpkins with eyes, shiny and bright
Make a shiver with fright

Halloween, Halloween
We love halloween....
BOO!

A Flower For Stein

This one is for Stein.

I went to Stein's home today at the dolphin pool. I was sad because he was there the last time I came, but he died before I could get there again. Stein was my favorite dolphin. He was the oldest one there and he had no teeth and most of the dolphins there are his kids.

But Stein went to Jesus and that's ok, because Jesus has probably got him working up there making people happy, like Patty and Destiny. I sure know I'm happy when I see a dolphin. Today I petted a couple of Stein's kids in the dolphin pool. You just hold the fish and pet their forehead, then give them the fish. Those dolphins stayed extra long for me today, probably because they know I love them.

When I grow up and be all of the -ologies, I want to be a dolphin trainer so I can see them every day and get in the water with them. Oh that would be so cool.

I picked a special flower and gave it to the dolphin trainers for Stein. They hung that flower on their board so that everybody could see it. I sure love Stein and I'll never forget him.

Petting dolphins today

Anemones and Starfish

This one is for Mumma and Dadda again tonight.

Oh I love the beach. I love standing in the waves. I touched a sea anemone today! It's skin feels soft and puffy but it's tentacles are sticky. They're not really sticky, they just feel that way because when you touch them they sting you. It's a really weak sting so it can't hurt you, but it feels sticky. If you leave your finger there long enough it will try to taste your finger.

I love holding starfishes, but you gotta remember that they're living creatures and you be really soft with them. They breathe water and they can only hold their breath as long as you can, so when you have to breathe, you put them back in the water so they can breathe too.

Live From San Diego

[Dad's Note: Tonight's post comes to you tonight from sunny (and smokey) San Diego.]

This one is for Dadda and Mumma.

We are in San Diego right now! We almost couldn't come because San Diego is on fire right now, but it's ok where we are. San Diego is a place far, far away by the sea. There is ships and jungles and Sea World where Stein lived before he went to Jesus. We are going there tomorrow even!

Wednesdays with West: Our TV is Haunted

This one is for Angel.

Do you know what? Our TV is haunted. It does spooky things by itself. It's the one downstairs. I think there is a ghost in our TV. A ghost is a thing that's invisible and you can't see it and it's spooky but not bad. Every single time you push a button on the 'mote control, something happens on the TV. Maybe this is happening cause it's Halloween time.

Thoughts on Thecodontosaurus

This one is for a thecodontosaurus.

Thecodontosaurus was one of the very first sauropods- those are longnecks if you don't know what that means. He probably speaks the sauropod language and he can probably understand other sauropods when they communicate. In fact, he probably taught all the other sauropods the sauropod language.

He was faster than most longnecks because he lived before they walked on 4 legs. He walked on 2 legs and he was a little bit faster, but still not way fast because sauropods aren't very fast.

You don't see a lot of thecodontosaurs in books because the only kinds of dinosaurs you see in books is ones like stegosaurus, triceratops, t-rex. Most people only know about those types of dinos. Every book is about t-rex's. I love t-rex, but more people should know about other dinosaurs that have harder names to say.

Leaves Are Treasures To Me

This one is for Chicken Little.

Do you know what treasures are to me? Dinosaurs, snakes, lizards, crocodiles, alligators, dolphins. Even leaves are treasures to me. It was my turn to take home the treasure chest from acting class and I wanted to to put my whole dinosaur collection in it- even leaves.

I was collecting leaves today for my leaf collection. Leaves are treasures to me because they are living things and they are beautiful. I even found one that had all the colors of fall. I love all the leaves in the whole wide world.

Do you know what? I have a new book that I love so much. Bridger ordered it for me. It's about this li'l old lady that isn't afraid of anything. She sees pants that walk all by they selves and shoes, but she's not scared. I really love this book.

Monday Mailbag on Tuesday: Chickens, Iraconji, and Severed Turkey Feet

Kelsi Greenwood said...
Hey Bridger guess what I learned in my Biology class today. I learned they have found that the T-rex is most closely related to the chicken. Did you know that? I can't wait to see you at Thanksgiving in Texas.
BRIDGER RESPONDS: Next time I see a mountain man selling a severed chicken foot I'll definitely buy it. I always knew the birds came from dinosaurs. Now they keep finding that different raptors had feathers. I know these things because I'm the Dinosaur Boy.

Mate, I read your story abut nearly going to be with Jesus. Same thing happened to me in 2000. I don't remember too much now but it made me understand we are always safe with Him around! You take care - and God bless ya!
BRIDGER RESPONDS: Dadda says you're writing clear from Australia. I love Australia! That's where the Croc Hunter was from before he went to Jesus. He's probably helping Jesus help animals up there. I know Jesus takes good care of you but almost dying isn't very fun at all. Some day I will sail to Australia. It really wouldn't be hard. I'd just drive down past Mexico, then get in a boat and sail straight over the sea to Australia. But you gotta watch out for iraconji. They may look little and cute, but those jellyfish are very precarious. Have you ever seen any iraconji?

Tiff said...
Bridger, you and Westerman are lucky to have a severed turkey foot. I don't know anyone else who has one and it's not all too often that one gets the chance to purchase such a treasure. Take real good care of it! :)
BRIDGER RESPONDS: I do take good care of my turkey foot. It's in my collection of real dinosaur stuff. I have fish fossils and trilobites and shark teeth, and even a huge tumbleweed from prehistoric Mongolia.

I Love Tiffy

This one is for Tiffy.

We picked who we give presents to today and I get to get a Christmas present for Tiffy! I'm going to get her some flowers and some really good chocolicks and a dinosaur picture for her computer and maybe a new flute because she loves instruments.

Tiff loves instruments like the flute and she plays beautiful music. If she was a dinosaur she would be one that's kind and gentle. But it would be hard to find a kind and gentle dinosaur. Even the plant eaters aren't that gentle. But she could maybe be a brachiosaur because they call that dinosaur "the Gentle Giant." But the problem with that is Tiff isn't a giant.

Maybe I'll just get her a stegosaurus for Christmas because that's her favorite dinosaur.

WESTON CHYMES IN: I would get her a trumpet.

Waves

This one is for Big Z.

Do you know where waves come from? The way middle of the ocean- clear out there in the deep waters where the sharks are and old swimming dinosaurs used to live. The sun makes the waves and they travel for a thousand miles until they hit the beach in San Diego.

When it starts turning winter, the sun moves away, away, away and soon it is on the other side of the earth. But there is waves even in the winter. Sometimes I think about a shark that starts on one side of the ocean and just keeps swimming. Sharks don't have air bladders like fish do, so they have to keep swimming or they will sink. So maybe there's a shark out there that starts swimming on one side and keeps going until he gets to the other side.

Wednesdays with West: I Know How To Drive a Car

This one is for Bridger because he's being really fussy tonight.

Dadda teached me how to drive a car. Now I can drive a car! First you start it up. Then you back it out into the road. Then you need to put it in a gear. I like dadda's car cause it has a stick that you use to shift the gears. Mumma's car doesn't have that stick.

First you put it in first gear. That's over and up. Second is straight down. Third is over and up. When you want to stop, you put it in neutral. That's right in the middle and you can stop. Dadda teached me all that and now I can drive a car. Do you know what else I can do? I can clap so hard it almost breaks my hands!

[Dad's Note: For those of you new to Bridger's blog, Wednesdays with West is tradition that began last year when Bridger was in kindergarten. Usually a late-nighter, the school schedule really threw Bridger for a loop. By about Wednesday every week, he'd have a meltdown and crash, and Weston had to step up and fill in. Today was a usual Wednesday for Bridger, as pointed out by Weston's dedication.]

Happy Mr. Columbus Day!

This one is for Mr. Columbus because it's his special day today.

He wanted to go sailing on a boat and everybody kept telling him the earth was flat. I don't know why they thought that because that makes no sense at all. Maybe they didn't invent globes yet.

He sailed on his ships until he landed in America, then he sailed back and told everybody. I love boats but I don't want to be a sailor when I grow up. I want to be a paleontologist and a biologist, and all of the -ologies.

But if I don't do that I think I'd like to pick apples in an orchard. I love to hear the "snap" when you pull it off the branch.

R.I.P.

This one is for Gryposaurus. He's the brand new dinosaur they found in Utah. He is a duck-bill dinosaur that has a little bump on his nose.

Today I saw this cool house in our neighborhood that had lots of cool Halloween decorations. They had a bunch of those things that you put over graves- you know, the old things they put your name on. I didn't read them, but I think they said "RIP." Every time I see one of those it always says "RIP" on them but I can't figure out why.

Sometimes I see those types of things in this cook book that mumma got at Wal-Mart. It tells you how to make cool Halloween food. Like these snakes that you make out of play dough that you can also eat. And ghosts with cheese on them and olives for eyes. Me and Weston love that book.

My Very Own Severed Turkey Foot

This one is for my severed turkey foot.

Dadda took us to this cowboy place that has tons of cool stuff like rabbit furs and fox heads and coyote fur and buffalo tusks. There was this mountain man that had some turkey feet he was selling for 5 dollars each. He said he got those turkey feet in Texas and the turkeys they came from are in wheelchairs for sure.

We didn't have any cash with us so we had to go to the Maverik and get some out of the money box. We got 10 dollars and went back to that mountain man. 5 bucks for Weston and 5 bucks for me. So we gave that mountain man that money and he gave us severed turkey feet. Can you believe that deal?

This is important to me because I think turkeys came from dinosaurs. A turkey foot looks a lot like a raptor foot. Their claws look a lot alike. So I put my turkey foot in my collection of real dinosaur stuff.
