The Big Homongous Rock

This one is for Granny in Tesas but she's really here in Utah.

Today is Sunday, so that means it's Shark Week on the Discovery Channel! In fact I'm watching a shark show right now.

Today we went to the Big Homongous Rock. Another name for it is Skull Rock. Denae and Victoria and Quincy was there, and West. It wasn't hard to climb up it at all. Then we went to the Great Salt Lake and Davey Jones' Locker. There was so many spiders there. I think they are Charlotte's children.

[Dad's Note: Yes, those are about 2 dozen spiders just behind Bridger, and yes, he does mean "Homongous," not "Humongous."]

The Cassowary Ain't No Joke

This one is for my friend Silas. He's going with me to Dinosaur Park tomorrow.

Do you think the dinosaurs have all disappeared? Well you should learn about the cassowary. That's a big bird that can't fly but I think they came from the corythosaurus. I think that because they look like a raptor, they have a big crest on their head, and they still have their killing claw. That crest on cassowary's head may look funny, but the cassowary is no joke.

Wednesdays with West: The Real Sara Heavens

This one is for Sara Heavens.

Do you know what? I saw the real Sara Heavens at church! She's a girl and she has a pretty dress and she has hair that is very pretty. She dances and sings. I love her because she sings my special song that makes me feel good at school. I saw her in front of our place at church.

[Dad's Note: Weston actually saw our neighbor, Nicky, who does look a heck of a lot like Sara "Heavens." Weston's special song is "Never Alone," which is almost as dear to him as "You Are My Sunshine." Weston suffers from periodic night terrors, a parasomnia sleep disorder characterized by extreme terror and a temporary inability to regain full consciousness. After 4 years of these terrors, the only thing we've found that can pull him out of them is Sara's "Never Alone." So we'll just go ahead and let West think Sara Heavens goes to his church. Nicky better just learn how to sing!]

McDonalds: Where Everybody Knows Your Name

This one is for Bear Grylls. I'm watching him on the Discovery Channel and he's in the jungles of Costa Rica. All the trees look the same there and it's very easy to get lost. Once even a Costa Rica guy got lost for two days until they rescued him.

There is this commercial with a sun that runs on the excercise thing and the sun says "I'm going to go work my abs." I wonder what working your abs means. But you know what's wierd? I went on the other channel and that same commercial was on! Can a commercial be on two channels at the same time?

We were watching Spongebob and it was funny because Mr. Crabs told them to learn everybody's name in the restaurant. That's like on cookin' where the people know everybody that comes into the restaurant. I wonder if the people at McDonalds know our names.

[Dad's Note: 'Cookin' is Bridger's term describing any show on Food Network. We recently watched an episode of Drive-Ins, Diners, and Dives featuring a diner where everybod knows your name.]

A Pirate's Life For Me!

This one is for the t-rex head that's on my grabber. That's the thing that you pull the trigger and it grabs things.

I don't want to be a pirate really, but I am one. But I never like to tell anybody that because they might think I like pirates more than dinosaurs. I really don't like pirates very much, but I do a little. Not all pirates are good. Some of them are bad. They like to collect treasure and fight with swords.

First I thought I couldn't be a dinosaur boy and a pirate at the same time, but dadda says I can. But I really don't want to be a pirate. I want to be a dinosaur boy. I love dinosaurs more than everything. That's why I want to make sure everybody knows that. Even Kaden.

[Dad's Note: Earlier this year at Disney World, Bridger encountered a pirate by the name of Captain Jack Sparrow, who had him repeat the pirate's oath and gave him an official pirate's certificate. Once he realized that meant he was a pirate, the boy was less than thrilled. He's now warming up to the idea- just as long as everybody knows he still loves dinosaurs the most.]

Wednesdays with West: Gutter Sailing

Dadda helped me make a cool boat out of sticks. It has grass wrapped around it so it can float. It even has a motor in it and a stick for the sail. I put it in the gutter so it could float down the gutter. It's a really cool boat. (Mumma's note: Perhaps they should've changed out of their church clothes first.)

Even The Lord Speaks Spanish

This one is for Gibran. He's in Mexico for a long time and I want him to come back. He speaks Spanish.

I have this show of Nephi stories and we can even watch it in Spanish. That is so funny. When you watch it in Spanish, suddenly everybody in the show speaks Spanish. Even the animals speak Spanish. Even the Lord speaks Spanish!

I Have a Calendar In My Mind

This one is for Benjamin. He's a guy on me and Weston's race car movie. He has a dinosaur on his helmet. That's why I like him.

I have a calendar in my mind. It goes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Then it goes to Sunday again. I always remember what day it is. Like today is Sunday and that means tomorrow is Monday. And that reminds me that I was going to go to Dinosaur Park on Saturday and take Silas.

It's not easy to have a calendar in your mind. I have to really try hard to remember it, and if I remember it for a long time and try really hard, I get to remember it forever. Then after you remember it good, it's easy to remember and you can remember things for a long time.

Like I remember that one time a long time ago, Gammy thought I broke something but I really didn't. I don't know who broke it but it definitely wasn't me.

Being a Real Good Brother Today

This one is for Weston, and since I'm being a really nice brother today, here is a picture of a frog for him.

Weston went to the doctor today because he is 4. They checked him out but he didn't get any shots. They gave him a book about a dog that has stinky breath.

I remember my book when I went to the doctor way a long time ago when I was 4. I love that book. It was about a mouse that was eating all this food in a house and it told its mouse friends to help him out. They were eating crackers and all the sweets. What a good book.

[Mumma's Note: Uh...oops. I obviously forgot that Bridger has a photographic memory. We made a run to the D.I. today before the doctor, and that one was in donation pile.]

Wednesdays with West: Every Car Needs a Good Radiator

I think our cars is the best cars in the world. They have good motors and radiators. But the motor home doesn't have a good radiator in it because it is way old. You need a good radiator because that's what makes it so the motor doesn't get too hot. If it gets too hot you have to stop and put water on it.

The Story of the Spooky Old Tree

This one is for Tiff.

Long long ago, far far away, the dinosaurs lived in these mountains. Most were meateaters but there were all kinds. They loved these beautiful mountains. There was a great big beautiful tree in the valley and it had all kinds of fruit on it. Even meateaters loved that fruit. Then the dinosaurs died and the tree got old and it died too.

Then one day kids found the old tree. It was dadda, tiff, Hilly, Auby, and Dawnie. The called it the Spooky Old Tree and they loved it so much. But bad guys cut it down. But it's still there. I wish me and dadda could put it back up.

After that tree gets resulected, it will look beautiful again and have fruit on it just like when the dinosaurs had it. I love the Spooky Old Tree.

Mountain Pipe Dreams

This one is for the dolphins.

We went to a big lake today and me and Weston threw rocks in the water. Coulter just got very muddy. Weston found a piece of driftwood and put a rock on it and sent it floating into the water. The rock was a guy and the driftwood was his boat. Weston wanted to go in the water and get it back but I told him not to. It's not very often that rocks get to float, so I bet that rock was pretty happy to be floating on that driftwood.

I was looking around and found the perfect surf board. I was just walking along the shore and there it was! It is made out of driftwood. I just want to get on that board and do some rad moves. Dadda says I can keep that surf board.

Welcome to the Boneyard, Part 2

This one is for Mrs. Quist. I miss her.

I was wondering if those old 'pleurodon bones were still there from a long time ago and I remembered where they were, so I walked over there. Sure enough, still there. Some of them were gone though. Probably some bad guys took them. I took those bones and hid them in the jungle so they will be safe.

Heartbeat Hill and Hunting for Driver Ants

This one is for Tammy because she went hiking with me.

Me and Tammy went for a walk to Heartbeat Hill. We found lots of cool things on that walk. There was a box of treasure but it was locked, and I found a cool thing I can use to kill the driver ants that live in the tree stump by Shannon's trailer. Driver ants are kind of bad because they can hurt you really bad. I know their queen is in that stump and when I find her I am going to kill her.

The Story of America

This one is for the real policeman I met today.

It is America Day today. That's when we remember how America was born. There was a war that we won. Dadda says that it's ok to try your best in races, but not in a war. You have to win or lose- there's no trying your best.

America won that war. There was a guy on a boat and he was looking at the land and he knew if the flag was still there, that Americans won the battle. But if the flag was down, that means they lost. But in the morning the flag was still up and he was so happy. That's why we never let the American flag go on the ground.

We was driving today and we saw an American flag on the ground. It fell down from the pole. Dadda stopped and we got out to put it back up and another lady stopped too. She put the flag back up but there was a part of it that was still touching the ground. So me and dadda and Weston just took the flag and put it up where it couldn't touch the ground.

[Dad's Note: Bridger saw a Highway Patrolman at the gas station today and struck up a conversation with him.]

Camping in the Mountains

[Dad's Note: Bridger just returned from a camping trip. The posts for the next several days (with the exception of tomorrow's America Day post) were written each day there.]

This one is for Ming Ming. She's one of the Wonderpets and I love the Wonderpets.

I am camping in the mountains! These mountains are way far away and they have jungles and lots of trees and even a lot of fossils! Pretty much every rock up there has fossils in it. Some are little parts of dinosaurs, some are sea shells.

I'm going to sleep in Tiff's tent every single night. We're going to read my new dinosaur book that mumma got me to help me read better. We're going to tell stories- but not scary ones, and stay awake all night.

We have a big fire and it's dark but I'm not cold. There are some green flames in the fire. Dadda and mumma and Angel and Coulter and Weston are at the fire too and we will roast marshmallows when dadda finally goes to get them.
