Patty Went to Jesus

[Dad's Note: We lost a very dear member our extended family this week. Bridger has been coming to terms with her loss, and these are the thoughts he's been piecing together. They are honest and come straight from his heart, but may cause confusion for his younger readers.]

My aunt Patty went to Jesus the morning last yesterday. She was broken and they couldn't fix her, so she died. I am sad but I know that she's okay now because she's with Jesus and he'll take really good care of her. I love Pat because she is sweet and I love to give her hugs. Sometimes she talks kind of funny but that's just because she is very special. Granny loves her so much too.

When you die your spirit goes to Jesus and your body goes in a little box. Your spirit looks like your body but it doesn't have any problems with it. Like Patty's spirit isn't special any more. The Crocodile Hunter's spirit doesn't have a poke in his heart, and my dadda's spirit isn't fat.

We saw Patty's body. I touched it and it didn't move. Her body doesn't look so old anymore. She was old, but she was young before that, and now she doesn't look so old. She was just resting in that box. I just hugged her picture. I'm going to miss Patty.

[Patty suffered from congenital brain damage. In our family we referred to her as the most special of all.]

Bridger,
We are sorry to hear about your aunt. Isn't it nice to know that she is in a better place now and that her spirit is perfect now and that you will get to see her again, someday. She no longer has the physical limits that she had here on earth, but is free from all that and is probably so happy to be there. She gets to be with Jesus now. How cool is that for her. I'm sure you will miss her a lot, though.
You are a sweet boy. Your mom and dad have taught you well.
