The Legend of Dinosaur Cave

This one is for Tammy.

Long long ago, far far away- There was dinosaur treasure! All the dinosars left, but when they left they hid their treasure. Workers came and carved tunnels into the mountain. Some of the workers even lived in those caves. But they didn't find dinosaur treasure. They just found clues and some triceratops skulls.

It is dark and spooky in those caves, but not spooky to me. I will find that dinosaur treasure. I think I'm getting close, because I keep finding clues.

[Dad's Note: Bridger has been searching for dinosaur treasure for over a year. Notice the 'clues' in Bridger and Weston's hands in the picture below...]

Pieces and Shreds

This one is for Sami. I haven't seen her in a long time.

I forgot to write my blog last night. It's important for me to write my blog every day so people can learn about dinosaurs. I love dinosaurs 251. I love them to pieces and shreds.

I have these toys that are candy things. One is a part of a dinosaur. You push a button on it and it goes up and down. The other one you open it and dump the candy in your mouth. I got one for my birthday and one from Lisa. When the candy's gone, you just have to pretend there's candy there.

Sleep Well, Dinosaur Boy

[Dad's Note: This new school schedule is getting the best of Bridger, who previously hadn't fallen asleep before midnight since the day he was born (believe me, we've tried everything to get him to sleep sooner). He is used to waking up around 10:30 am. Now a month into Kindergarten, this waking up at 7:00 thing has really thrown him for a loop. He'll get so tired in the evening, yet he'll fight sleep with all his might until he finally drops off around 10:30.

By about Wednesday of every week his body simply gives up and he's out cold by 6:30. Such was the case tonight. Weston did the same, and is thus unavailable to substitute for Bridger tonight. He'll be quite sad tomorrow when he realizes he missed his blog tonight. Please come back tomorrow for another lively edition of the Dinosaur Boy's musings!]

Curious George and the Liahona

This one is for my dadda. We will watch Curious George tonight.

Do you know what I learned in church? About the Liahona. It was a ball that told directions when Nephi was hiking in the jungle. If they were bad it just didn't work. When they were good it worked so they could get where they were going.

Laman and Lemuel was Nephi's brothers. Nephi lived a long time ago, but not before the dinosaurs. They lived way long before people.

Mosquitos, Blooderization, and DNA

This one is for Shalaya.

Did you know that mosquitos can blooderize you? That means suck every bit of your blood so there's no more left. They start off babies and they suck so much blood that they turn into grown-up mosquitos. How much blood they suck is how big they will get. If a mosquito sucks the blood of a dinosaur and paleontologists find it, they can get the DNA out of the blood and use it to make another dinosaur. DNA is strings in blood. They can put it in a frog and grow dinosaur eggs.

I would tell my teacher about this but she's always talking and I wouldn't want to interrupt her.

Shayla and Her Iguana

This one is for my friend Shayla. She's a good one.

This is me and Shayla holding my special shark. I was at Shayla's playing and we played house. She was the momma and I was her lizard. Did you know that Shayla has a real lizard? Yep, an iguana. He's big. We taked him and put him on the couch. His name is Dude. That's a funny name.

Maybe my lizards can be friends with Shayla's iguana. When she finds out one of my lizard's names is Noodle, she'll crack up.

Saturday Night Quetzlcoatlus

This one is for Weston.

This is a picture of a quetzlcoatlus I drew for dad to have at his work. When he looks at it, he can think about a quetzlcoatlus. Quetzalcoatlus is a bird-like dinosaur because he has feathers and flies in the sky. Once Weston got bitten by a quetzlcoatlus. But not a real quetzlcoatlus. It was just some kind of huge bird that looks like a quetzlcoatlus. Dinosaurs are 'stinct. That means they're dead. But they will be resulected and I can't wait.

I Forgot to Write My Blog Last Night

Sorry I forgot to write a blog last night. I was busy playing because it was Family Fun Day. I will make a really good one tonight. Here is a cool picture of a T-Rex skeleton at a musezum.

Shark in a Bottle, Dinos on a String

This one is for my new shark.

Mom and Dadda brought me a special real shark. A worker put it in a bottle with blue water and Momma gave it to me. I love it! I wish I could take it everywhere with me, even school- every day. Even Wal-Mart.

They also brought me some dinosaur beads in New Orzeans. I will wear them to school and show Silas. I can bring my shark on Blue Day. On Brown Day I will bring my cane. On Green Day I will bring Rex, that dinosaur I got at the dinosaur musezum.

14 Days and a Shark Named Swimmer

[Dad's Note: Bridger fell asleep at The Kids' house tonight so we brought him home and put him straight in bed. Weston is filling in tonight.]

This one is for me.

It was dark time and Bridger falled asleep at The Kids so he can't do his blog. Here is a picture of Lightning McQeen. His number is 95.

When it's dark time Bridger doesn't go to sleep. He just stays up and plays dinosaurs, so he was real tired. Momma and dadda went on a long long walk. They was gone 14 days. They saw animals and got me a book that has stickies that's eyes that you put on the animals. There is 14 animals in this book. And they brought me a real shark in a bottle. I think we should name him Swimmer.

[Momma and Dadda's "walk" along the Gulf Coast was more like 5 days.]

The Dino Creed

If dinosaurs were here today I could be with them and they wouldn't eat me. I could talk to them quietly and they would still hear me. If I called them they would come to me. Because they know I love them.

Plans for the Sneaker Spider

The sneaker spider isn't mean to me. He just follows me. Maybe he follows me because he likes me. Kindergarten learned me that I should be nice to all bugs, even spiders. Next time I see him I will pick him up with a spoon or a bug picker-upper called tweezers and put him in a cup or something. If he's nice to me I will play with him, but I will not let him crawl on me. I will find something for him to live in, like a bowl or a cup or a tank. Then I would find stuff for him to climb on, like grocery trees. I would put some dirt in to make him comfy, and maybe some leaves or grass. Then I would make him spin webs for me that have words in them.

Tim, Who's Nickname is Timothy

There was a little boy named Tim in my class that pushed me and I landed on Julia. I told her sorry, I just couldn't stop. But she said that's ok nicely and we decided to be friends. She asked me where I got my watch and I told her at Wal-Mart and she said "that's cool." I like Julia. She's a good one.

Tim eats wood chips and picks his scabs and licks the blood off. He even wore his pajamas today that had dinosaurs on them. That's funny because he doesn't know anything about dinosaurs. Zero. His shirt and pants didn't even match. He said he was sorry for pushing me. Maybe he didn't mean to push me. Tim's nickname is Timothy.

Bowling For Dinosaurs

Did you know they have dinosaur toys at bowling? Bowling is where momma rolls the ball really softly and if it goes in the hole, she wins. Momma likes bowling but I don't know if she's really good at it. I found a little girl named Emma at bowling that likes dinosaurs. I wanted to talk to her about dinosaurs but she was too busy playing legos.

Campfires and Scary Stories

Campfires are cool because you can roast hot dogs and marshmallows, even cereal! Oh, and I love telling scary stories. One time Tiff told me a scary story about when some big kids went to a haunted school. There was footsteps and a talking skeleton. I was so afraid of that story. I love Tiff but I don't love that story.

My scary stories are fun that I tell at the campfire. Like the one about the t-rexes that ate sandwiches with bugs in them. Or the one where there was 8025 acrocanthosaurs and they all ate flies and spiders.

Doodle Monster and a Bug Named Katie

This one is for Olivia.

I get lots of credit cards in the mail. I bought weston a doodle monster at Target with my credit card. I got a doodle dino for my birthday and I thought Weston might want a doodle monster. Oh, he loves it!

I miss that nice bug at dinosaur days. I didn't want to hold it at first because I was afraid, but now I'm not. Now I miss him and I hope I find him soon. It was a baby katydid and if I find him I will name him Katie.

[Bridger's "credit card" was actually a $5 Target gift card he got for his birthday. See this post for another amusing credit card story.]

Falling off the Turnip Truck

This one is for the brachiosaurus. He is a wonderful dinosar with a really long neck.

Dadda can look at the computer and know if I'm doing good in school. How can dadda do that? He says he didn't just fall off the turnip truck. If you just fell off the turnip truck that means you are dumb. If you fall off the turnip truck a long time ago you are smart.

He must be joking about the turnip truck because falling off a turnip truck doesn't make you smart or dumb. Falling off a turnip truck just makes you hurt. Maybe they should put higher walls on turnip trucks so people don't fall off them so much.

[Dad's Note: Bridger was amazed that we could track his progress in school using a parent Web interface. When he asked me how I knew what he was doing in school, I told him I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. This phrase obviously got his wheels spinning.]

Happy Birthday Coulter!

This one is for Coulter because it was his birthday!

It was Coulter's birthday and he ripped his cake to shreds. Now he is one, but it doesn't seem like he's one. He still looks like a baby to me. Ainsley is one now so Coulter can see how he needs to act. Coulter's birthday is on the same day we remember when the evil guys attacked us.

[Weston had some thoughts on 9/11.]

WESTON: Those bad guys killed good guys. They throwed airplanes at those buildings and they fell down. Then the soldiers shoot the bad guys.

America's Special Day

This one is for Kevin Costco. He is with Jesus now.

I learned that today is a special day. Today we remember that some evil guys killed 3000 good guys. They flyed those planes into the buildings and it blew up and fell down. It doesn't make me sad. It makes me angry. When I think about it I get angrier and angrier. I watched that on a show 2 times and I wanted to watch it again. When I watch it I feel special for those people.

It wasn't today. It was 5 years ago when I was a teeny baby. Weston was still with Jesus getting made when this happened. I'm glad we have soldiers to protect us from those bad guys. And police and firemans.

Heavenly Father, please bless that man Kevin Costco. He is a good guy. Please make him feel better and please bless his babies.

[Dad's Note: Kevin Costco is actually Kevin Cosgrove, who died in the south tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Bridger has paid close attention to the 9/11 memorials today and had a lot of questions, which we answered honestly. I showed him some of the footage, which he's been very interested in. Apparently he learned nothing about this in school today. Granted, he is in kindergarten. But in teaching him about 9/11 today, I feel he has learned a healthy life lesson.]

Trails and Shells

This one is for the shells I found when I was hiking. The biggest one I found I named it Shelly. The other big one I named Shellayla. The littlest is Shello.

I love going up trails with Dadda. When I go hiking I pretend I'm a ornitholestes when I'm climbing up high mountains. I don't go camping to play games. I go camping for hiking and adventure. When I hike fast in the mountains, the dirt turns into smoke that follows me. That's how fast I hike.

Finding Money vs. Earning Money

If I find dollars on the floor I give them back to momma. But if it's silver moneys I keep them. I am saving my moneys so I can buy Tank, the triceratops. That's the only Dinosaur Mountain guy that I don't have. It is 10 dollars. It won't take me long at all to get 10 dollars. Then I can buy Tank if my mom says it's ok. I look for money because it's faster to find money than to earn it. Earning moneys makes me do lots of work and jobs. Working hard is a good thing, but finding money is even better.

Ideas For Family Fun Day

This one is for Jesus.

Look at this big jet! I goed on that jet. There was lots of other guys in there.

Do you know what things would be fun to do on family fun day? Eat a yummy breakfast, like cereal; Get a couple of drinks and watch a show; Play the Land Before Time game for two minutes; put our train set together; go to Dinosaur Days; go to Dinosaur Park; play dinosaurs; talk about dinosaurs; read dinosaur books; pretend to teach a class, like dadda takes a turn, then me, then west. I would teach about dinosaurs.

We could even play computers or go hiking on a trail and look for clues to dinosaur treasure. Maybe even go camping in the jungle. I love party day because you don't need to go to sleep, you can just stay up and watch shows. And dadda doesn't even need to go to work.

T-Rex vs. Carnotaurus

This one is for a baby t-rex that I named Tyranny. I call him that because his scientific name is tyrannosaurus rex. He is one of my stuffed animals.

If a T-Rex fought a carnotaur I think the t-rex would win because he could step on his neck and take a bite out of him and have him for dinner. The t-rex lived in the late cretacious. Carnotaurs lived in the middle cretacious. That means before the t-rex.

Bridger and the Sneaker Spider: A Hate/Love Relationship

This one is for Mrs. Quist. I hope we talk about dinosaurs in school tomorrow!

I need my dad to teach me how to kill bugs with my magnifying glass because I want to find the Sneaker Spider and kill him. Weston killed the mom sneaker spider, but the dad and the baby sister are still alive. I'm going out there right now to find that sneaker spider and kill him.

WESTON: I will kill that spider with a stick.

[UPDATE] I don't want to kill that sneaker spider any more. Maybe I could just keep him as a pet. I learned in school never to kill bugs.

A River Adventure

This one is for Dadda because I haven't given one to him in a long time.

This is a picture of a HUGE waterfall in the top of the mountains. Jesus pours the water on the mountains and it falls down into a river and goes and goes, past the Homongous Rock into the Great Salt Lake.

I hiked a long way to get there. Me and Weston and Alyssa and Kimber and Kayla didn't even need to stop to rest because we're tough kids.

The Crocodile Hunter Went to Jesus

This is for the poor Crocodile Hunter.

I am sad because the Crocodile Hunter died. He was swimming with stingrays and the stingray just stabbed him in the heart. Why would a stingray do something like that? Maybe the stingray wasn't being mean. Maybe he was just scared. But he shouldn't be scared because the Crocodile Hunter loves animals. He helps crocodiles on the Discovery Channel. When bad guys try to get crocodiles, he takes them away and hides them in a safe place.

He is a good guy. That means he is with Jesus now. Jesus will take good care of him. But his kids are very sad. Good thing they have a mother to take care of them so they're not all alone. I love that Crocodile Hunter show. Now who will they get to be on the Discovery Channel?

[Dad's Note: Steve Erwin (a.k.a. The Crocodile Hunter) was killed off the coast of Australia yesterday when a stingray got spooked and jabbed his barb through his heart, killing him instantly.]

I See Planets in My Mind

This one is for sweet Bella.

Did you know that I can see things when I close my eyes? I can see stuff I never even seen before. Like the planet Mars and the planet Earth. You just close your eyes, then put a picture in there. Then you take the picture out and you can see it! I can see Jesus. I can even see Simmy's house. But right now I see the planet Mars and some other planets. Sometimes I think dinosaurs came from another planet. If I remember a picture then I can even still see it when I open my eyes.

The Book Grace Gave Me

This one is for Grace.

Grace gave me a cool dinosaur book that's way cool. Did you know that a stegasaurus could kill a raptor? The raptor could jump but the stegosaurus could whip him with his tail. That's in my book that Grace gave me. It has some dinosaurs that you never even seen. Like the kind that throws up berries. I'm not kidding. He doesn't have teeth, he has a beak. Maybe those berries are too hard.

[Dad's Note: Sure enough. Page 33 shows a picture of a ornithomimus throwing up berries.]

My Friend McCall

This one is for McCall. I love her.

Do you know why I love McCall? She takes care of me. She hits Kaden when he's mean to me. We go to school and she tells me where to sit on the bus. She puts me off the bus when we get off. She is a good friend.

[Dad's Note: Short and sweet.]
