Desert Dinos: Protoceratops and Velociraptor
This one is for Kelsi from Tescas. But she isn't in Tescas, she's here!
Dadda went camping out in the desert. I told him to look for protoceratops and velociraptor bones because those are some dinosaurs I know that lived in the desert. The desert is cold at night and sometimes spooky, but not spooky to me.Velociraptor means "swift robber" because he is fast and he is a stealer. Velociraptor is powerful but protoceratops has armor. Dadda didn't find any bones but something's telling me they're out there...
[Dad's Note: I wondered about Bridger's claim that velociraptor lived in the desert since the Jurassic Park movies portray him lurking in exotic jungles. I did some googling and discovered that paleontologists in 1971 uncovered intact and un-smashed fossils of a velociraptor and a protoceratops locked in mortal combat- in Mogolia's Gobi desert. They concluded that a sand cliff must have collapsed on top of them and froze them in time. Today's picture is an exact replica of that specimen.]
